5 About My Career Path

One day I hope to become a Police Officer. The reason why I chose to do this is because of how I grew up. I grew up in the crappy city of Columbus, right on the south end, also known as the ghetto. I didn't like what I saw. So many crimes and bad people also people in need of help. I like to help people when they are in need. I want to be able to help protect the children that are being brought up in this generation and others to come. I want to know that I help make a difference in their lives and many others. I want to be known as a hero one day. I want to have a positive impact on others’ lives. I want little kids and maybe other adults to be able to look up to me because of all the good things that I am going to do. I have been told so much by so many people that I could NEVER do it because I am a woman and because I am so small. That does not stop me one bit, if anything it pushes me that much more to prove people wrong. I stand strong and look at them and smile and say “watch me”. One of my favorite quotes is “never stop never rest till your good gets better and your better gets best”. It just motivates me to do the best that I can to achieve. I hope you can take something from that quote to help push you a little father also J

  1. I think it is good that you want to be a Police Officer, I thought of that as a career. I'm sorry that you had to see bad things growing up as a kid. I think your reasoning behind why you want to be an officer. I think it is good to be compassionate for what you want to do. It drives you to succeed. It will be good because you can wake up every morning and be happy with your job, unlike some people. Little kids do need a hero and if you can be theirs than good for you! Where are you planning on going to be a cop? Back to Columbus? I think it is awesome that you stand up to the people who put you down because I do the same thing. Don't let anyone put you down or stop you from doing what you want to do. It is your life no anyone else's to decide. I wish you the best of luck on succeeding on your goals!

  2. Thank you very much Alyssa! I have always wanted to this since I was a little kid and it's just something that has stuck. I couldn't even think about doing something that is different! I plan on either being a columbus police officer or joining BCI & I. It is like an investigation type of thing. You go and work crimes and colect the evidence. Your the one that trys to get the peopel after the crime is done. A police officer is there to try and prevent it from happening. Just something to think about. Also thank for the luck. I plan to rise high and achieve all of them.

Hi Aggie! I love that you want to become a police officer. I honestly thought about doing that. But then like a lot of other college kids I changed my mind and I chose nursing. Kind of a big difference but in a way not really. I also want to help people. Being a nurse I won't only be helping people I hope to be able to make a difference in their lives as well. Which I assume by what you have said that is exactly what you want to do. I also love your quote! I can say I have never heard of that one before. I will definitely keep that in the back of my head though! It's a good one to remember. I think you'll do great as a police officer! I got to give you props for that because I've noticed that there are barely any girls in that major. Don't listen to what other people tell you. Just listen to yourself and if you know you can succeed in this than you will! And I know that if your heart is in what you love to do especially your job then you will impact a lot of people’s lives even if you don’t know it. I have the exact same mindset as you I think. Just knowing that we can change one person’s life will make all the difference. Good Luck in your major and in this class! And don’t let people put you down! Prove them wrong. That will be the best day of your life, when you graduate as a police officer!

  4. Aggie, becoming a police officer is a great idea! My dad's side of the family had a lot of people in the force: My grandpa, my great uncle, my uncle, and my cousin just recently went to college to become a cop. I have always heard the only reason why people join the force is because they either have family in it, or they have experienced something and that drove them to join the force to help prevent it. It is a very dangerous job as well, so be careful! It is going to be hard not being able to help everyone, but you sure can try! Do not let anyone discourage you. You can do anything that you put your mind to. You will walk out in the end with a lot of stories. Some good, some funny, some sad. People will look up to you. I sure do. Again, do not let anyone bring you down. If you enjoy something enough it should be very easy to learn and go do it. Have fun learning and enjoy when you actually achieve your goal!
